The governors of Ohio and Kentucky have proposed a 50 percent discount on tolls for frequent users of the Brent Spence Bridge over the Ohio River in Cincinnati in an effort to accelerate plans to replace the aging structure. Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.
Beshear and Ohio's John Kasich say the states would equally share the 2.6 billion dollar construction price tag, and pledged to come with a plan to reduce that cost by March 30. While the bridge is technically Kentucky's responsibility, Kasich says Ohio is ready to assist.

The plan would have to be approved by the Kentucky legislature, which has so far been unwilling to approve tolls as a way to pay for the project.
