Utica Woman Plans Plea Change In Cancer Scheme Case

A central Ohio woman accused of faking a cancer diagnosis for her 4-year-old son intends to change her plea to either no contest or guilty on felony charges of child endangering and theft.

A filing by Emily Creno's attorney in Licking County court indicates the Utica woman decided to change her plea on both counts after reviewing information from the prosecution's case. She initially had pleaded not guilty. Creno's attorney Christopher Cooper says it's not been decided whether she will plead guilty or no contest. A hearing is scheduled for May 6. Authorities allege Creno shaved her son's head in a scheme that convinced him and others he was dying and bilked people out of donations. A judge had found Creno competent for trial.
