Ohio To Observe Vietnam Veterans Day

Ohio observes its first Vietnam Veterans Day this week a year after Governor John Kasich signed a bill into law to honor veterans.

A week of events commemorates the day's first observance, including today's display of a traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall replica at the Ohio History Center in Columbus. There also will be panel discussions on issues including veterans' experiences and perspectives on the war and its aftermath. A closing event at the Statehouse on Thursday will be followed by a final remembrance ceremony Friday at the History Center. Vietnam Veterans Day is officially Saturday, but observances are being held earlier to avoid conflicts with Easter weekend.
