The Ohio Senate has approved a proposal to increase the speed limit on rural interstate highways to 70 mph. The Ohio Department of Transportation will set the speed limits for outerbelts in urban areas at 65 mph and on freeways in congested areas at 55 mph. The bill also sets in motion Governor John Kasich's plan for to sell 1.5 billion dollars in Ohio Turnpike bonds to raise money for highway and bridge projects. The measure now heads to the House.
