Ohio Sets Up 24-Hour School Safety Tip Line

Ohio is offering a free anonymous tip line designed to alert local law enforcement officials to school safety issues.

Officials in more than 200 school buildings have signed up for SaferOH since its launch earlier this month. The number accepts calls or texts 24 hours a day. The program allows students and adults to share information anonymously with school and law enforcement officials about suspected threats by someone to harm students. School safety analysts may ask for additional information but the caller can remain anonymous or can leave contact information for officials to follow up. Research shows that in more than eight of 10 violent incidents in U.S. schools that someone other than the attacker knew something would be occurring but failed to report it.
