Ohio's Jobless Rate Steady

Ohio's unemployment rate for June was 5.5 percent, unchanged from the previous month. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says the rate remains at the lowest level since before the Great Recession. The national jobless rate is 6.1 percent. 316 thousand Ohioans were out of work last month, a decline of 1 thousand from May. Non-farm payrolls increased by nearly 13 thousand in June, with job gains in the goods-producing, manufacturing and mining and logging sectors. Those gains surpass job losses in the construction sector.
