Ohio's unemployment rate for January is 5 percent, unchanged from December's revised rate.
The national unemployment rate is 4.8 percent. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says non-farm payrolls declined by 21 hundred in January from a revised 5.5 million in December. Ohio had 287 thousand jobless workers in January, up by 3 thousand from December. The state saw job gains last month in the construction, financial activities, manufacturing and local government sectors. Ohio lost jobs in the educational and health services, leisure and hospitality and information service sectors.
