Ohio's Unemployment Rate Rises

Ohio's unemployment rate for July rose slightly from the previous month. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says the unemployment rate is 5.7 percent, up two-tenths of a point from the seasonally adjusted rate in May and June, and half a point below the nation's jobless rate. Non-farm payrolls fell by more than 12 thousand over the last month, with job losses in professional and business services, education and health services, and the hospitality sector. Job gains are reported in trade, transportation and utilities. The number of unemployed Ohioans in July rose by 7 thousand to 323 thousand.
