Ohio's Weekly Jobless Claims Decline

The Labor Department says the number of Ohioans filing first-time claims for unemployment insurance benefits fell by more than 23 hundred last week, due to fewer layoffs in manufacturing. Ohio's total is the second largest in the nation. Claims nationally fell by 3 thousand to a seasonally adjusted 336 thousand. The less volatile four-week average rose slightly to a seasonally adjusted 338 thousand 5 hundred, which is roughly in line with pre-Great Recession levels.
