OHP: 2014 Traffic Fatalities Expected To Decline

statepatrol.ohio.gov

The Ohio Highway Patrol says preliminary data shows the number of traffic deaths in 2014 probably will not be another record low.  973 fatalities have been reported and at least 37 others are under review.  The patrol says it's possible the total could be one-thousand-ten or more once reports are completed and officials account for any New Year's Eve crashes.  The patrol reported 990 traffic deaths for 2013. It was the first time the number was under one-thousand since record-keeping began in 1936.   Citations for violations that cause crashes and injures, such as impaired driving and not wearing a seat belt, were up for 2014.
