OHP Reports Slight Decline In Memorial Day Traffic Fatalities

The Ohio Highway Patrol says 14 people were killed in traffic crashes over the Memorial Day weekend. The patrol says 15 people were killed during the 2016 holiday period and 16 were killed in 2015. Troopers made 554 drug-related arrests this year, up 26 percent from 2016. 801 DUI arrests were reported, an 8 percent increase from last year. Troopers issued more than 78 hundred citations for seat belt violations, up 9 percent from last year.
