One Tea Party Candidate Withdraws From Primary, Another Gets Fired

Cedarville University has fired one of the May 6th primary challengers to incumbent Republican U.S. House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio. The campaign of now former faculty member J.D. Winteregg created on online ad claiming Boehner has "electile dysfunction." University officials say the school does not engage in partisan politics and the ad is not consistent with the school's values. Winteregg is running with the backing of Tea Party leaders.  Meanwhile Matthew Ashworth, another tea party activist challenging Boehner, says he is withdrawing from the primary. Ashworth says he does not want to be a spoiler or split the vote. He says he is backing fellow businessman Eric Gurr. Butler County Board of Elections director Lynn Kinkaid says Ashworth has yet to notify his office of the decision, and says it is too late to remove him from the ballot.
