Openly Gay Ohio Native To Lead U.S. Army

www.army.mil

The U.S. Army will be led by a Centerville native. The U.S. Senate voted last night to confirm President Obama's nomination of Eric Fanning as Secretary of the Army, making him the first openly gay leader of a military branch. Fanning graduated from Centerville High School in 1986. He was a top advisor to the Army secretary and undersecretary of the U.S. Air Force before spending six months as acting Air Force secretary.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
