OSU Med Center Settles Suit After Sending Heart Attack Victim Home

Ohio State University's Medical Center will pay 275-thousand dollars to settle a suit filed by the family of a woman who was sent home when she was having a heart attack.

The family's attorneys say in April 2012 Ella Whitehead was sent home to await results of tests for chest pains following a car crash.  Whitehead died at her home the next day.  The family accused the hospital of negligence and charged doctors failed to provide an acceptable standard of care.  Attorney's from the hospital countered that Whitehead had a history of heart issues.  Under last week's settlement in the Court of Claims, the hospital agreed to settle with Whitehead's family, but does not admit any liability.
