OSU Ovals To Become Pedestrian Only

Ohio State University plans to fine anyone who violates a new policy prohibiting people from riding a bicycle or skateboard on the north and south Ovals. Starting April 17th, volunteers will tell students the Ovals will be accessible only to pedestrians. Fines will take effect this Fall. Fines issued by campus police for state and municipal violations of the Oval "walk zone" begin at 129-dollars. Fines for university violations begin at 20-dollars. Failure to pay may lead to arrests. OSU officials say they began studying changes to vehicular and pedestrian traffic last fall after a number of campus-area accidents.
