OSU Professor Resigns After School Says He Took Cash For Speaking Engagements

A tenured Ohio State University professor has resigned after a review alleged he improperly accepted up to 200 thousand dollars for speaking engagements across the country. Terrell Strayhorn left the College of Education and Human Ecology in May after being fired two months earlier as director of the university's Center for Higher Education Enterprise and placed on indefinite unpaid leave. Strayhorn has said the payments were proper and any violations resulted from "a lack of clear guidelines" by the university. On Saturday he called the allegations a "manufactured problem" with political overtones. A university audit concluded Strayhorn routinely accepted improper payments as director and traveled extensively without proper approvals. He continued to accept the payments and use the director title after warnings from the university.
