Pennsylvania Firm Getting Ohio Tax Dollars To Replace Buckeye Lake Dam

Newark Advocate

The State Controlling Board has approved spending nearly 8.4 million dollars for design work for replacing the deteriorating dam at Buckeye Lake. Governor John Kasich said last week the proposed design by a Pennsylvania firm would use compacted soil and cement columns to create a barrier to prevent water seepage.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the nearly 180-year-old dam is at risk of catastrophic failure.
