Democratic State Representative Connie Pillich says she is running for State Treasurer.
Pillich says she decided to challenge incumbent Republican Josh Mandel because of her long time interest in public service.
Mandel, who lost his beat to unseat U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown last year, served eight years in the U.S. Marines, including two tours of duty in Iraq. He is expected to seek re-election but has yet to make a formal announcement. Ohio Republican Party Chair-Elect Matt Borges says Mandel has been a good steward of tax dollars.
