Plans For Solar Farm Scuttled
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has nixed plans by Columbus-based American Electric Power to build a large solar farm in Southeast Ohio.
The commission says the firm failed to demonstrated the Turning Point project benefits ratepayers and is necessary to meet its renewable energy requirements. The solar farm planned near The Wilds was expected to create hundreds of jobs and produce enough electricity to power 25-thousand homes. AEP could ask for a rehearing.
