Plates From JFK Limo To Be Auctioned Saturday

WFAA, Dallas/Fort Worth

The license plates that were on the limousine carrying President John F. Kennedy when he was assassinated in Dallas in 1963 are going on the auction block on Saturday. Heritage Auctions of Dallas says the plates were saved from the trash more than a half-century ago when the vehicle was sent to a Cincinnati company for a retrofit. When a new set of plates arrived, the old plates were discarded. But the company's owner retrieved them and  kept the plates between books on his bookshelf. His daughter, who later kept the plates in a drawer in her Ohio kitchen, is offering them for auction. The opening bid is 40 thousand dollars.
