Columbus police say the largest dogfighting ring in recent local history is out of business. Police and federal agents raided five locations on the Hilltop yesterday, seizing nearly four-dozen dogs and arresting eleven people. Investigators say the local operation may have ties to a national dogfighting ring. The locations are on Clarendon, South Hague, South Wayne and Sullivant Avenues, as well as Breezedale Place. Police Sergeant Rich Weiner says the raids were prompted by an investigation into one suspect and 15 dogs.
The dogs that were seized are being housed at an undisclosed location. Authorities have not released any details about the operation.
