Police Chief Recommends 24-Hour Suspension For Officer In Stomping Incident

Columbus Police Chief Kim Jacobs has recommended a 24-hour suspension for an officer seen on video kicking a suspect lying on the ground.

But both City Council and Mayor Andrew Ginther caution that this is not the end of the disciplinary process, and are promising a quick decison from Public Safety Director Ned Pettus.  Officer Zachary Rosen was seen stomping a handcuffed suspect in the April 8th incident on Maize Road.  Rosen claimed he thought 26-year old Demarko Anderson might be armed.  A police review of the incident called Rosen's actions "unreasonable" and not reflective of police training.   Rosen was one of two officers cleared in the shooting death of Henry Green in 2016.  A Franklin County grand jury in March declined to indict the officers.
