Police To Investigate Use Of Force During OSU National Title Celebration

Columbus Division of Police

Columbus police will review officers' use of tear gas and pepper spray to disperse large crowds in the OSU campus area following the football Buckeyes' victory in Monday night's national title game. Police  Chief Kim Jacobs opened an internal investigation yesterday after she and Mayor Michael Coleman saw videos and pictures of officers using mace on fans standing on sidewalks.  Jacobs defended her officers' tactics on Tuesday, saying they were necessary to control rowdy fans.
