A Powell teacher is one of four finalists for the National Teacher of the Year award from a group of state education leaders. The Council of Chief State School Officers says the winner typically receives presidential recognition and travels the country for education advocacy. Liberty Tree Elementary School art instructor Jonathan Juravich is one of the finalists. He and two others are the teacher of the year in their respective states.
