Protestors Hold Event At State Parole Board Offices

25 Ohio prisoner advocates and friends and family members of longtime inmates protested on Christmas Day outside of the state parole board in downtown Columbus.

The Cincinnati-based Universal Support Network is condemning the imprisonment of 35 hundred inmates before a law passed in 1996 requiring flat prison sentences of definite amounts of time, as opposed to sometimes-broad ranges under the previous law. The group is condemning the parole board for not releasing more so-called "old-law" inmates. The parole board has yet to comment.
