A homeless man convicted of attempting to have his rape victim killed was sentenced Thursday to nine years in prison. 23-year-old Jamal Stafford pleaded guilty last month to a conspiracy charge as part of a plea bargain in which rape charges were dismissed. Prosecutors say Stafford attempted to hire someone to kill the victim while in the Franklin County jail, so that she would not testify against him. The 22-year-old woman was assaulted at her home last November.
