Rate Of Local Existing Home Sales In April Bucked National Trend

Existing home sales declined in the nation in April, but increased in the state and the region. The Columbus Realtors trade association says warm weather and more homes on the market fueled a 15 percent increase in sales last month as compared with March. Nearly 4 thousand homes in the group's multi-county region changed hands. The Ohio Association of Realtors says statewide existing home sales rose by 8.5 percent in April over the same month a year ago. The National Association of Realtors says existing home sales fell by 3.3 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.04 million. The association blames a lack of homes on the market and rising prices. The average sale price of a central Ohio home was more than 186 thousand dollars, up 4.4 percent from March. The statewide price rose by 2.2 percent.
