American Red Cross chapters in central Ohio and around the county are issuing an urgent call for blood donations. Spokesperson Christy Peters says supplies of all blood types and platelets are extremely low, due in part to the usual summer lull in donations.
Peters says the Red Cross is extending hours at many donation sites to help offset the shortfall. Anyone interested in making a donation can schedule an appointment online at redcrossblood.org.
