Refinery Owners Seek Permit To Handle Canadian Tar Sands

Operators of a refinery in Lima are seeking state approval for a 300 million dollar upgrade to refine tar sands from Alberta, Canada. Husky Energy says the type of heavy crude most likely to be refined differs from the company's vast reserves of bitumen. Husky is seeking an Ohio Environmental Protection Agency permit for equipment changes required to stay in compliance with federal clean air laws. The agency will accept written comments through October 7th.
