Regional Jobless Rate Held Steady In December

State officials say central Ohio’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.7 percent in December, a 13-year low. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says central Ohio had the lowest jobless rate of any region in the state last month. The unemployment rate in Franklin County fell to 3.6 percent, and fell to 3.5 percent in Columbus. Delaware County had the lowest rate in the region at 3.1 percent. Union and Fairfield counties posted unemployment rates of 3.9 percent in December while the remaining counties had rates at or above 4 percent. Rates rose in 68 of the state’s 88 counties last month.
