Regional Jobless Rate Increased In May
Students looking for summer jobs are being blamed for an increase in central Ohio's unemployment rate.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says the region's jobless rate was 4.4 percent in May, up a tenth of a point from a seven-year low set in April. The department says central Ohio has the lowest unemployment rate among metropolitan areas. The unemployment rate in Franklin County and Columbus is 4.4 percent. Delaware and Union counties have rates of 3.7 and 3.9 percent respectively.
