Resource Officer Indicted On Federal Charges

A Columbus Police School Resource Officer was indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday for improper conduct with two female students. 49-year-old Todd Smith of Centennial High School allegedly tried to coerce a 15-year-old girl into taking sexually explicit videos and photos and send them to him. Smith also allegedly used texts and emails to try to coerce a second girl into having sex with him. The family of one of the alleged victims has filed a civil lawsuit against Smith and the City of Columbus. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
