Restaurant Machete Attacker Was From Guinea

Columbus Division of Police

The FBI says the man who attacked people in a North Hamilton Road restaurant with a machete last week and later was fatally shot by police was from Guinea. The agency says it is premature to discuss what motivated the attack or details of the investigation. The owner of the Nazareth restaurant is a native of Israel and believes the attack by 30-year-old Mohamed Barry was racially motivated.  Four people were injured in the attack. Police asked the FBI  to investigate whether Barry has any ties to terrorist groups or if the incident was a terrorist attack.
