Revision Of State's Open Container Law Proposed

State lawmakers are considering a bi-partisan proposal for a new open container law. The measure would allow cities and townships to set up to three entertainment districts each where pedestrians could openly consume alcohol. New Orleans, Memphis and Louisville are among a growing list of cities with open container entertainment districts. Backers, including the Ohio Wholesale Wine and Beer Association, say it would boost economic development. Opponents say the bill would help only alcohol sellers, while increasing the rate of alcohol-related crimes.
