Ringleader In Amish Hair Attacks Again Appeals His Conviction

cbsnews.com

The leader of a breakaway Amish group in Ohio is again appealing his 2012 convictions.

Samuel Mullet Senior tells a federal judge his former attorney made a series of mistakes during trial and in previous appeals. His former attorney says in court documents he did make errors. The U.S. Supreme Court decided last year not to review Mullet's appeal challenging the constitutionality of the federal hate crime laws. Mullet is serving an eleven year sentence for masterminding the hair-cutting attacks. The fifteen other members of the eastern Ohio Amish community convicted in the case have since been released.
