Rose To Be Inducted Into Bobblehead Hall Of Fame

cincinnati.com

Former Cincinnati Reds great Pete Rose will be the inaugural inductee into the new National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in Milwaukee on Sauturday. Jim Letizia reports.

Rose will give an induction speech and participate in a moderated discussion on stage. The ceremony will also highlight Rose's past bobbleheads and his career. Baseball's career hits leader and 17-time All-Star agreed to a lifetime ban in 1989 for betting on baseball while a player and manager. Commissioner Rob Manfred rejected Rose's application for reinstatement in December. Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar says voters in an online poll overwhelmingly approved inducting Rose. Sklar estimates that he and his co-founding friend have 3 thousand bobbleheads in their collection. 2 thousand are on display at a Milwaukee art gallery. Museum organizers hope to find a permanent location for the hall by the end of the year. Rose will also be inducted into the Reds' team hall of fame this summer.  Rose played in 23 seasons for Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and the former Montreal Expos, who are now the Washington Nationals.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
