Royals End Tribe's Historic Winning Streak

Associated Press

The Cleveland Indians' historic 22-game winning streak ended on Friday night.  Jason Vargas pitched into the sixth inning and former Indian Brandon Moss homered as the Kansas City Royals beat host Cleveland 4-3, ending baseball's longest win streak in 101 years. The Indians set a new American League mark earlier this week and came within four consecutive victories of matching the modern-era record held by the 1916 New York Giants. Cleveland manager Terry Francona talked after the game about the end of the streak.

When Cleveland shortstop Francisco Lindor struck out with a runner on first to end the game, the packed crowd gave the Indians a prolonged standing ovation. Francona and the Cleveland players came out of the dugout to salute their fans.

Starting pitcher Trevor Bauer (16-9) gave up all the KC runs to take the loss for Cleveland.
