Salazar To Visit Young Monument Today

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar will visit Wilberforce today to celebrate the President's decision to create the Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument.The monument preserves the home of U.S. Army Colonel Charles Young - the first African-American to reach the rank of colonel. The site is one of five newly designated national monuments. The other sites are Rio Grande del Norte National Monument in New Mexico; First State National Monument in Delaware; Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Monument in Maryland, and San Juan Islands National Monument in Washington state. Salazar is visiting the monuments to celebrate with the people who sought the designations.
