Sentence Change For Trooper's Killer

A Central Ohio man convicted of killing a State Highway Patrol Trooper will be moved off death row. A panel of Ashland County judges resentenced Maxwell White Junior this week to life in prison. White was sentenced to die for the 1996 murder of Trooper James Gross during a traffic stop on I-71, but it was overturned on appeal. A plea bargain with prosecutors took the death penalty off the table.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
