Sentencing In Slaying Of Sunbury Businessman

Two Louisiana prison inmates were sentenced to life behind bars yesterday for the kidnapping and slaying of a Sunbury businessman abducted from a Mississippi hotel after they escaped in 2011. Darian Pierce and Ricky Wedgeworth pleaded guilty to escaping from the Louisiana State Police compound in Baton Rouge. The body of David Cupps was found a few days later in an Alabama hotel room. Prosecutors say the two kidnapped Cupps in Mississippi and killed him so that they could steal his rental car. Cupps was there to inspect the Grand Gulf nuclear power plant.
