Sheriff's Deputy Will Not Be Charged In Fatal West Side Accident

A Franklin County sheriff's deputy will not be charged for causing an on-duty crash that killed a man last July.

Columbus and Franklin County prosecutors cite a lack of evidence. They say Deputy Brian Fritz was going to assist an officer pursing a suspected drunken driver when he collided with 77-year-old Nyal Brown's van on Sullivant Avenue near Demorest Road. The Sheriff's department is conducting an internal review.
