Slight Increase In Ohio's Jobless Rate

Ohio's unemployment rate for December is 4.7 percent, an increase of two-tenths of a point from November. It is the second straight monthly increase. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says number of unemployed workers in December was 269 thousand, up 14 thousand from November. The department blames an increase in the labor force. Non-farm payrolls rose by more than 15 thousand last month to more than 5.45 million. The largest job losses were in the financial services, and the leisure and hospitality sectors. Manufacturing and construction had the largest job increases. The current national unemployment rate is 5 percent.
