Soldier from Ohio dies in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense says a soldier from the 20th Engineer Battalion has died in Afghanistan. Military officials say 24-year-old Pfc. Jeffrey L. Rice of Troy, Ohio, died July 19 in Kandahar. The cause of Rice's death was not immediately available. Rice was assigned to the 20th Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, out of Fort Hood, Texas.
