The State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident involving a Springfield police officer on Sunday. Troopers say the officer struck 45-year-old Steven Rintamki on Lagonda Avenue. Troopers say Rintamaki was walking outside of a crosswalk when the accident occurred. The officer's name has not been released. Police officials say the officer was not hurt.
