State Allows Ohio Abortion Clinic To Remain Open

The Ohio Department of Health has granted a Cincinnati abortion clinic permission to continue operating despite not having a required transfer agreement with a nearby hospital for emergencies. Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio listed four physicians to provide backup care instead. The department's director says the variance expires May 31, meaning the facility would have to apply again in four months. Operators of the facility have challenged the constitutionality of recently enacted state laws governing its operations.
