State Investigating Cause Of Newark House Explosion

Newark Advocate

Newark fire officials say a neighborhood had a new gas line installed recently and some residents smelled gas in the days before Sunday's explosion leveled a two-story home on Pembroke Road and killed a family's dog. Interim Newark fire chief Patrick Connor says residents failed to report the odor probably because they saw gas company trucks in the area. Investigators could not determine exactly what caused the gas-line explosion. The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio is now handling the investigation.
