State Investing Millions In Recreational Projects

Nearly 15 million dollars in grant money will go toward expanding trails and funding other outdoor recreational projects across Ohio.  The Ohio Department of Natural Resources the funding comes through the Clean Ohio Trails Fund, NatureWorks and Recreational Trails Program grants. The department has conditionally awarded 22 Clean Ohio Trails Fund grants totaling 10.5 million dollars. That funding will be used in 12 counties for projects such as developing new trails and constructing trail head facilities and bridges. 89 NatureWorks state grants totaling nearly 3 million will go toward developing and improving public access for outdoor recreation facilities through development or improvement of playgrounds, park restrooms and shelters. Thirteen recreational trail projects will receive 1.5 million in federal funds through the Recreational Trails Program for trail development and improvement.
