State Jobless Rate Increases

State officials say Ohio's unemployment rate was 7.5 percent in October, an increase of a tenth of a point from September and two tenths of a point from August. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says the rate is two tenths of a point higher than the national jobless rate. Officials say the increase is due in part to counting furloughed federal workers as unemployed during the recent government shutdown.  The jobless report for September had been delayed because of the shutdown, so both sets of numbers were released today.
