State Public Safety Department Developing Better Resource Tracking For Emergencies

Ohio Department of Public Safety officials have announced several initiatives to better prepare for emergencies. Officials say they are pre-positioning several new power generators around the state, better tracking such resources and creating teams of public employees who can respond when communities need help. Officials say the initiative, slated to be in place by spring, is designed to ensure the state is ready to respond quickly before and during events such as damaging storms or large power outages. The state has used grant money to buy eight new, large generators and has started using a Web-based system to track and map available state and local resources, such as generators and water treatment equipment.
