State Rebids Medicaid Contracts

Many Ohioans on Medicaid will see a revamped program under new contracts with health plans taking effect this month. The Medicaid managed care program provides health care services for more than 1.6 million poor and disabled people in Ohio. The state recently re-bid its contracts serving the Medicaid population. Beneficiaries may now choose from five plans. Under the new contracts, the plans are required to maintain and operate a member service call center in Ohio, creating 1 thousand new jobs. The plans also have to develop financial incentives for hospitals, doctors and other providers that are tied to improving quality and patients' health.
